Molecular model, Cambridge, England, 1962-1972
Molecular model of the enzyme chymotrypsin c.1967, made at Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge
The enzyme chymotrypsin is represented by this molecular model. It was made at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge. Chymotrypsin was the first enzyme whose structure was determined. It is produced by the pancreas and found in the intestinal tract of mammals. The enzyme is essential in the production of amino acids, which are the building blocks for proteins in the body. The model was donated to the Science Museum by the Imperial College of Science & Technology, London.
