Urinals shaped like this were for men to urinate into. They were often carried and used on long journeys. They were also used when using other facilities was inconvenient. The basket once had a lid, but this is missing.
Little is known about the origins of this urinal. It is thought to originate from Southern Europe or North Africa. It is made from glass and enclosed within a wicker basket. The urinal dates from the 1800s.
