Trial lens case, comprising lenses, and a pair of frames, plus 2 test types, British, 1930-1950
Optometrists are trained to examine eyes and prescribe visual aids such as spectacles. This is a set of trial lenses. Optometrists used them to determine the strength of spectacle lenses required. It is contained in a silk lined mahogany case. It was made in England in the mid-1900s. It also contains two pairs of frames and two test types for assessing the patient’s eyesight. Patients put on a pair of spectacle frames into which the optometrist placed various lenses. This allowed the subject’s quality of sight to be assessed.
