Token, copper, 28mm diameter. Leighton Buzzard halfpenny, 1794. (DH Beds 3c). Issuer Chambers, Langston, Hall & Co., 1794, ½d. Obverse: Girl making lace under a tree: ‘Lace Manufactory’. Reverse: A lamb: ‘Payable at Leighton, Berkhamsted of London’. Lace was made at Leighton Buzzard and the company had a London haberdashery. Berkhamsted was the village in which S. Langston resided. The lamb was a motif used by haberdashers.
