Token, copper, 28mm diameter. Leeds halfpenny, 1793. (DH Yorks 31). Issuer Harry Brownbill, silversmith, 1793, ½d. Obverse Bishop Blaze and a wool comb: ‘Success to the Yorkshire woollen manufactory’. Reverse Leeds cloth hall: ‘Leeds halfpenny 1793’. Notes This is a particularly fine token with excellent detail. The building is the Mixed-cloth Hall built in 1758. With some 1,800 cloth stands and its many windows for good lighting, the hall was a notable building.
