Token, copper, 28mm diameter. Bath tradesman's ticket, halfpenny size, 1794. (DH Somerset 26). Botanic Gardens, featured by attorney J Jelly. Issuer John Jelly, 1794 Obverse Entrance to the ‘Botanic Garden’, Bath. ‘He spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon’, ‘Bath token 1794’. Reverse Part of a ruin and a tree: ‘Even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall. 1: Kings CH:4.V:33’. Notes Jelly owned the Botanic Garden which was in Camden Road, Bath on the site where Prospect Place is now situated.
