Token, copper, 28mm diameter. Middlesex halfpenny, 1793. (DH Mddx 1034). Honouring Sir Isaac Newton. Issuer Unknown, 1793, ½d. Obverse Bust of Sir Isaac Newton: ‘Sr Isaac Newton’. Reverse A caduceus, cornucopia and olive branch: ‘Halfpenny 1793’. Notes Nothing is known of the origin of this token. Newton, apart from his well-known scientific achievements, was also Master of the Mint for a period.
