Token, copper, 28mm diameter. Carmarthen halfpenny, 1791. (DH Carmarthen 7). Issuer John Morgan, 1791, ½d. Obverse Interior of an ironworks showing furnace ‘Caermarthen Iron Works’. Reverse Interior of a forge with tilt hammers. ‘Kidwelly, Whitland, Blackpool and Cwmdwyfron Forges, I. Morgan’. Notes This is a very fine token with great attention to detail. Large manufacturers were frequently also bankers.
