Copper token by John Kirk, produced for The Sentimental Magazine in 1773. Features a portrait of John Wilkes on the obverse. Inscribed on the reverse 'John Wilkes Esquire; Member for Middlesex 1773.

One of a set of 13 promotional tokens produced for The Sentimental Magazine, given to subscribers in 1773. The Bath Journal, published Monday, March 29th, 1773, reported that the magazine was to include a "curious MEDAL, struck on fine Metal, about the Size and Weight of a Guinea".

John Wilkes (October 1725 - December 1797) was an outspoken journalist and Radical politician, representing Middlesex in Parliament.
