Anglesey penny token
Token, copper, 33mm diameter. Anglesey penny, 1787. (DH Anglesey 17 to 85). Issuer Thomas Williams, Parys Mining Co., 1787, 1d. Obverse Head of Druid. Reverse Monogram, PMC and promise to pay. Notes This copper mining company was the first to start issuing tokens. This one, with minor variations in appearance, was made in 1787, 1788 and 1791. It was also the most numerous token, some 250 versions having been struck. It was known as the Anglesey penny.
