Canon 35mm automatic single lens reflex camera, model AE-1, Number 1,000,000v., manufactured 1977. Lens cap has Olympic logo for Montreal 1978.

The Canon AE-1 represents a transition in camera design when mechanics gave way to electronics. It was the first ‘computerised’ camera and incorporates a CPU, or Central Processing Unit, to control exposure. AE stands for ‘Automatic Exposure’
