Silver tobacco pipe with threaded stem in 4 pieces, enclosed in rectangular leather box, bowl has hallmark, probably assayed in Birmingham with King's head, English, 1760-1837
Made entirely from silver, this pipe can be dismantled into four pieces to fit inside the wooden box. Originally from China, the pipe may well have been acquired by a traveller visiting the area.
The records suggest that the pipe was checked by an assay office in Birmingham to gauge the quality of the metal.
