Starr-Edwards mitral and aortic artificial heart valves, used, possibly English.
Valvular stenosis is a condition in which one or more valves in the heart do not open fully, restricting normal blood flow and putting extra strain on the heart. Artificial valves like these dramatically improve patients' survival rates.
The first implant of an artificial valve was performed in 1952, but these are from the 1970s.
