Richard Quain was president of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1868.
He was born in 1800 and became a famous surgeon in the middle of the 19th century. He was the brother of Jones Quain, the anatomist, and cousin of Sir Richard Quain.
These drawers contain a large number of the instruments he frequently used, including a fine collection of lithotomy staffs.
