Glass Bottle of Ergometrine B.D.H. tablets, .125 mg. 58 mm x 29 mm x 22 mm. Printed label in purple font reads, '100 TABLETS/ERGOMETRINE/ B.D.H./For oral use/ each containing/ 0.125 mg/ POISON/.../THE BRITISH DRUG HOUSES LTD./LONDON/..' Ergometrine, although not a controlled drug, is chemically similar to LSD. It is used medicinally in child-birth to stimulate the smooth muscle of the uterus and encourage the passing of the placenta. It can also be used to induce a spasm in the coronary arteries.
