Large green storage bottle for tincture of squill

Large cylindrical storage bottle, dark green glass, trace contents of tincture of squill. 406 mm height x 192 mm diameter. Although squill is occasionally mixed with opium tincture of squill does not contain any controlled substances. Tincture of squill is one part macerated squill to five parts alcohol and is used as a cardiac and bronchial stimulant. Label is painted in an elaborate double ax design with a red border, golden background and black lettering, reads 'TR : SCILLAE.'. Cork has been previously infested with pests. Unknown maker, English, 1820-1880.
