Vitreous silica
Molecular model of vitreous silicaVitreous silica is a glassy material consisting almost entirely of silicon and oxygen atoms. It is made in translucent and transparent forms. Compared to ordinary soda-lime-silica glass, it has a much lower thermal expansion coefficient, a higher thermal shock resistance and a higher temperature limit. The molecular model shows the amorphous nature of vitreous silica.
