Box for shafi gonorrhea medicine with instructions by Hamdard Dawakhana (Waqf), Pakistan, 1970-1981

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection. This imported Unani Tibb medicine is advertised as a reliable treatment for chronic gonorrhoea. The label is printed in English and Urdu. Reportedly it quickly ‘heals gonorrhoea wounds and stops pus discharge.’

Unani Tibb is an Islamic medical tradition. It is based on ancient Greek principles and focuses on balance in the body. It is found mostly in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and the Middle East.
