Kaputine was advertised as a non-habit forming remedy providing ‘magic relief for headaches, influenza, rheumatism, sciatica, gout, toothaches and sleeplessness.’ It claimed to provide relief within ten minutes and have no harmful effects on the heart. Kaputine was typical of a range of remedies aimed at a broad number of conditions. These were sold ‘over the counter’ in chemists across the country during the mid-20th century.
