White cardboard box for 1x10 ampoulesof Syntometrine Injection (ergometrine maleate) with only two remaining. 20 mm x 50 mm x 20 mm, 19g. The printed label on the outer box reads, 10 ampoules of 1 ml/ SYNTOMETRINE/ Sandoz/ Ergometrine and/ oxytocin Injection/ Sandoz Products Limited/ 98 The Centre, Feltham/ Middlesex TW 13 4EP/...'. An additional label from the Davies and Hulbert Malpas Surgery informs us that the product was out of date as of 31/7/1984. Syntometrine, a combination of oxytocin and ergometrine, is used medicinally in child-birth to stimulate the smooth muscle of the uterus and encourage the passing of the placenta. It can also be used to induce a spasm in the coronary arteries. Made by Sandoz Products Limited, Middlesex, England, 1982.
