'Tabloid' medicine chest used on 1924 Mount Everest Expedition

'Tabloid' medicine chest, empty, used on 1924 Mount Everest Expedition, made and patented by Burroughs, Wellcome and Co., London, 1887-1924
Part of the medical equipment carried by the British 1924 Mount Everest Expedition was a ‘Tabloid’ medicine chest made by Burroughs, Wellcome & Co. The chest certainly looks as though it has been to Everest and back. George Mallory (1886-1924) and Andrew Comyn Irvine (1902–1924), the two mountaineers on the expedition, died in the attempt. It is not known whether they reached the summit of Everest.
Tabloid medicine chests were taken on the Everest expeditions of 1921, 1922 and 1924. It is shown here with a medicine chest from the 1938 Land Expedition to Everest (1981-1009).
