First aid kit 'Tabloid' brand in aluminium case, in canvas satchel, used on U.S. Army air service world flight of 1924, manufactured by Burroughs, Wellcome and Co., English early 20th century, autographed by the aircrew
‘Tabloid’ brand first aid kits made by Burroughs, Wellcome & Co were given to explorers and influential people packed with the company’s products of the day in a shrewd attempt to promote the product.
This case was given to one of the four two-man crews on the first circumnavigation of the globe by air by the US Army Air Service World Flight in 1924. The case was presented back to Burroughs, Wellcome & Co and signed as a memento by the six airmen in the successful Boston, Chicago and Seattle planes. The trip took an incredible 175 days.
