Model of corn mill, 1753. This model was acquired by Dr. Stephen Demainbray (1710-1782), the lecturer on experimental philosophy, while he was in France in 1753. It is a model of the mill at Bazacle at Toulouse. The water was directed through a narrowing channel onto a paddle wheel with curved blades, which was connected to the upper grinding wheel. Demainbray claimed that this was the only model of its kind to be brought to England.
