Brown glass bottle of "Bipulverette" "Thyromang" pills, prepared by Oppenheimer, Son and Co. Ltd., London, 1920-1940
The word “PALATINOIDS” is moulded on to the side of this brown glass bottle. Palatinoids were made and advertised in the USA by Oppenheimer, Son and Co from the 1890s. Palatinoids are soluble casings which are used to preserve drugs. They protect their contents from contact with the environment, which leads to spoiling. They also make swallowing pills easier. In advertisements, Palatinoids were said to cope well in both extreme heat and extreme cold.
