Model, of a three-wheeled heavy wagon, or cart, 1745-1755

Model, of a three-wheeled heavy wagon, or cart, unsigned, British, 1745-1755.

Dr. Stephen Demainbray (1710-1782) - a lecturer in experimental philosophy - had several wagon, or cart models: of which this is the largest. The front wheel attachment improved the steering. The wide wheel width prevented damage to the roads. This model: possibly represents Demainbray’s attempt to combine the turning power of a cart, with the stability of a wagon.
