Bubble sextant probably made by Henry Hughes and Son Ltd, London, about 1944. Marked on the left side of the casing: A.M. | Bubble Sextant | Mark IXA | 6B/218 | N° 137/44 | Brit. Pats | 480112 490621 | and pending. Marked on the left side of the casing: N° 137/44. Black crackle-lacquered alloy casing incorporating artificial materials, housing optical equipment, electrical equipment, and a rubber eyecup. Three shades (all red). The clockwork averager is missing. In a fitted Bakelite case with a leather carrying strap, and containing a calibration sheet for this instrument.
