Patent field camera by A J Melhuish of London. A 10 x 8 inch Kinnearpattern camera with brass rear standard and applied label 'Melhuish's patent. Patented November 10, 1859 and December 28 1859'.

A 10 x 8 inch Kinnearpattern camera with brass rear standard and applied label 'Melhuish's patent.

This camera was one of the earliest to use tapered bellows. It was also the first camera to use sheet metal rather than wood in its construction, making it lighter and more compact than conventional designs.
