Diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotive, British Railways, Class 02 0-4-0 No D2860, built by Yorkshire Engine Company in 1960.
This locomotive was one of twenty diesel-hydraulic 0-4-0 shunters with 170hp Rolls-Royce engines, built for British Railways by Yorkshire Engine Company of Sheffield during 1960-1961. They were withdrawn from service between 1970 and 1975. D2860 is the only surviving example, and is used for shunting purposes at the National Railway Museum. Its wheel base of 6ft enables it to negotiate curves of as little as 60ft radius.
