Steam locomotive, British Railways, Britannia class 4-6-2 No 70013 "Oliver Cromwell", built by British Railways in 1951, withdrawn 1968.

Oliver Cromwell is a British Railways Standard Class 7 steam locomotive designed by Robin Riddles. This class is also known as the Britannia class, of which 55 steam locomotives were built. Oliver Cromwell was built at Crewe Works in 1951 and allocated the number 70013.

By the late 1950s diesel-electric locomotives had begun to replace steam locomotives on the main line. In 1968, British Railways imposed a ban on mainline steam services and the last mainline passenger train to be hauled by steam power was the Fifteen Guinea Special, and Oliver Cromwell was one of four locomotives to haul the service.

Oliver Cromwell became part of the National Collection after the end of the Fifteen Guinea Special. After spending many years on loan to Bressingham Steam Museum, Oliver Cromwell was overhauled at the Great Central Railway and returned to passenger service in 2008.
