Railway carriage, London & South Western Railway, tri-composite, No 3598, built at Eastleigh in 1903.
A tri-composite carriage is the name for a carriage with three travel classes in one. It could carry 21 passengers in total, with five seats in first class, seven in second and nine in third.
This carriage was withdrawn from service in 1948 and is the only example of a tri-composite carriage that we have in the collection.
