Ladies' 1st & 2nd Class Waiting Room Sign

Enamel sign, Ladies' 1st & 2nd Class Waiting Room, white with blue writing and border, Patent Enamel Company logo in bottom left.

In 1965 British Rail launched new branding that made public station signs and notices clear and easy to read. Before this date, sign style varied across the network and this made navigating stations harder, especially when advertising signs mixed with wayfinding signs, leading to confusion.
