The text of this warning sign reads:

"North British Railway - Warning to Trespassers, Pursuant to the North British Railway Act 1894.

The North British Railway Company hereby give Notice to all persons not to trespass upon any of the Railways, Stations, Works, Lands, and Property belonging to or worked by the Company.

And Notice is hereby further given that any person who shall trespass upon any of the Railways of or worked by the North British Railway Company shall without having received any personal or other warning than this Notice, forfeit and pay by way of penalty any sum not exceeding Forty Shillings for every such offence.
