Pillar box, Victorian, cast iron, Penfold type, hexagonal shape, ex-Sheffield Midland Station.

Passengers could post letters to be collected and delivered from stations. Green was the standard colour for pillar boxes across the country. People often complained that the dark green colour was too hard to see, so they were changed to the now iconic bright red in 1874.
