Model steam locomotive, 1/3 scale, 7 1/4" gauge, 0-4-0 ST `M

Model steam locomotive, 1/3 scale, 7 1/4" gauge, 0-4-0 ST `Margaret', built at National Railway Museum 1982-1983 prototype Hunslet `Alice' class No.878 of 1898
"Margaret" is a 7 1/4" gauge replica of the 2ft gauge "Alice" Class locomotives built in the 1890s by the Hunslet Engine Company, Leeds, for use in Welsh slate quarries. It is a short wheelbased engine with the frames angled at the front, which allows the engine to be towed up steep inclines. This enabled the engines to work at the various levels within the quarries.
"Margaret" was built in the Railway Museum workshops and is named after Dame Margaret Weston, former Director of the Science Museum.
