Sectioned model of Alex-Spencer's Patent double Railway Buffer.
This represents a buffer for railway vehicles embodying features patented by Messrs A F and A G Spencer, C W Hine and F C Cook, between 1908 and 1921. In it there are two sets of rubber springs which are brought into action successively as the load increases.
