Police truncheon, North Eastern Railway, plain wooden truncheon with leather wrist strap, inscription in handwriting "August 4th 1914. European War 1914. Specimen Staves suppled to watchmen Aug 26th 1914. Made at Darlington Whessop Lane on Mr Valentine's order Afterwards (28th) called in, and Company's official staff supplied Darlington District Constable". Stamped NER. Overall: 370 mm x 35 mm.
