Depicts an express passenger train hauled by a Class 5 4-6-0 locomotive. A bomb explodes just in front of the train at the side of the track, and there are columns of smoke behind the train. In the foreground a permanent way worker bends over a colleague lying next to the track, and another worker stands holding his head. The chimneys of a factory are visible in the background, and there is a German bomber in the sky above. Signed by the artist at bottom left. Created for the The LMS at War series. Unframed.
