Painting, gouache (?) on board, Ely Cathedral Rises In Majesty, Where Hereward the Wake Made his Last Stand, by Lance Cattermole, 1953. Depicts the Saxon outlaw Hereward in mail armour and a cloak, standing among reeds and holding a round shield up against flying arrows. In his right hand he holds a burning brand, and in the background is Ely Cathedral. The title of the painting is below, with a map of the East Anglian railway network at left. Original artwork for British Railways (Eastern Region) railway poster.
