In this watercolour interior carriage plan, designer Brian O’Rorke sketches out the place for the Queen to work - the desk area displays the red cases of official papers, a fountain pen and ink blotter. Its design balances comfort with practicality, showing relaxed seating, a place to work and listen to the radio, heralding the start of the media age.
