Drawing, wash, Dep: Paddington 2.15 Arr Home 4!, by Captain (Charles) Bruce Bairnsfather, about 1917. Depicts a scene on Paddington station during the First World War, with an Army officer returning home from the front. The soldier, a captain, wears a greatcoat and high trench boots. He leans against his kit bag, smoking a pipe, with a cane over his right shoulder and papers under his left arm. In the background is a Great Western Railway locomotive and the arch of the station roof. Signed at bottom left, "Bruce Bairnsfather".
