Coloured lithograph depicting King Class 4-6-0 locomotive No 6009 King Charles II with the Cornish Riviera Express emerging from Shell Cove tunnel at Dawlish, Devon. In the background is the beach and town. Below is the caption, and at left a line illustration of the Great Western Railway broad gauge locomotive 'North Star' of 1837. At right is the GWR 'roundel' logo. Printed by J Weiner Ltd, London, WC. Format quad royal.

This poster was produced to celebrate 100 years since the passing of the parliamentary act in 1835 which approved the Great Western Railway’s construction. It features a member of the GWR’s King class, the most powerful passenger locomotive ever built by the GWR, at one of the company’s most iconic locations at Dawlish.
