The Great Western Railway reminds its employees that "Great Western men are trusted to be loyal to their conditions of service in the same manner as they expect the Company to carry out their obligations and agreements.

The National Union of Railwaymen asks its members to stand in solidarity with the embattled coal miners, with C T Cramp of the NUR proclaiming "I desire to repeat on behalf of the NUR what I said in yesterday's issue of British Worker: Members of our Union must handle no traffic of any kind, Food-stuffs or otherwise"
