Poster, British Railways (London Midland Region), Skipton Castle, Yorkshire by John Greene, 1958. Coloured lithograph of Skipton Castle depicting the castle on a steep wooded bank above the River Aire. Text beneath reads: 'Skipton Castle, on its rocky eminence is a fine example of a fully roofed massive medieval fortress, with an attractive 15th-century Courtyard and Tudor Gatehouse. Built by the Normans as a protection against Scottish raids, the Castle's colourful history includes its epic three years' siege by the Roundheads. It is now preserved for public enjoyment'. Adjacent to the text is a simple map showing rail links to Skipton. Part of the 'See Britain by Train' series.
