Poster, London Midland & Scottish Railway, Mill Hill School, by Norman Wilkinson, 1938. School House. Text: Mill Hill School was founded in 1807 near the spot where the Revd. Richard Swift organised the first Free Church School in 1660. School House, which forms the subject of this poster, was designed in 1825 by Sir William Tite, PRA, to accommodate the entire school, the earliest of the Out-Houses being built just half a century later. The terraced garden, a portion of which is also shown, is of greater antiquity. It was planned by Peter Collinson, the friend of Linnaeus, and still contains some of the trees and shrubs which he introduced to this country from the New World. Famous Public Schools on the LMS LMS logo and School Coat-of-Arms. Format: quad royal.
