Poster, British Railways (London Midland Region), Express Freight, Backbone of the Nation's Transport, by Barber, about 1953. Coloured lithograph depicting a British Railways Standard class 2-6-0 steam locomotive hauling a goods train at night, with the footplate lit by the orange glow from the firebox. The train is passing a goods siding with another locomotive and wagons, and factories in the background. The accompanying text reads "Day and night the whole year round, 425 express freight trains link together the principal industrial centres of this country". At bottom left is a black British Railways 'totem' logo. Text in the bottom left margin reads "Published by British Railways (London Midland Region) LM 9293" and in the bottom right margin "Printed in Great Britain by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London and Dunstable". Format double royal.
