Poster, British Railways (North Eastern Region), Yorkshire Dales, A National Park Area, by Ronald Lampitt, 1961. Coloured lithograph depicting a small village in the Dales nestled between green hills. Accompanying text from A E Housman's poem 'The Merry Guide' reads "Across the glittering pastures, And empty uplands still, And solitude of shepherds, High on the folded hill" with the legend "Travel by train, services and fares from stations and agencies". The poster depicts a village in the Dales, accompanied by lines from A E Housman's poem, 'The Merry Guide'.

Ronald Lampitt was born in Worcester in 1906. He was a self-taught commercial artist and illustrator, who produced artworks for John Bull magazine, The Sunday Times, Reader's Digest and other publications. He worked on children's books in collaboration with his brother-in-law, Henry Deverson and illustrated nine Ladybird books and the magazine Look and Learn.

Lampitt produced posters and carriage prints for the Great Western, Southern and London, Midland & Scottish Railways and later for British Railways. He died in 1988.
