Poster, British Railways (Southern Region), Hastings & St Leonards, by Laurence Fish, 1956. Coloured lithograph depicting a rear view of a woman in a white swimming costume and straw hat holding a red towel, while her male companion, dressed in a blue and white striped dressing gown, waves to a passing yacht. In the background is the seafront and the castle ruins on the cliff. The painting depicts Hastings in the style of a Mediterranean resort. Accompanying text reads "Frequent fast trains from London (Victoria & Charing Cross). Through trains from the North & Midlands". Text at bottom reads "Printed in Great Britain by Charles and Read Ltd, London & Harlow. Published by the Southern Region, British Railways. AD 7072/12 1956 - 7)." Format double royal, 630 x 1013 mm.
