Coloured lithograph depicting the buildings and grounds of Whalley Abbey, with visitors walking and talking in the gardens. Text reads "Established in 1296, Whalley, near Blackburn, was one of the great Cistercian abbeys of Lancashire. Many of the buildings were destroyed after its dissolution in 1536, but there are remains of great interest. For centuries a private residence, it is now in the care of the diocese of Blackburn". At bottom left are the words "Go by train" and at right a British Railways 'totem' sign. Format double royal.
