L2 EMI Lightweight Battery Operated Tape Recorder
- Made:
- 1950s in London
L2 EMI lightweight battery operated tape recorder with instruction manual Ser No 15264.
A portable battery-operated recorder from the early 50’s, the EMI L2 was a single speed, single track recorder designed for use “in the field”. It took 5″ spools, used a permanent magnet d.c. motor (governor controlled) and had a manually operated (cranked), geared rewind. There were two heads, record and playback. No facility was provided for erasing, so one would always have had to use blank or pre-erased tapes on the job.
