Pye LV30 table top television receiver

Pye monochrome television receiver, table model, LV30, 1949. Very similar to the B18T and D18T receivers.

Physically the external differences are the use of edgewise volume & brightness and the tinted implosion guard. Uses TRF sound & vision sections rather than the later superhet. Circuitry also includes Automatic gain control (AGC) and a differential interference limiter. Band I only, made in 'London' and 'Birmingham' versions to suit those transmitters.

An advert from ‘The Wireless and Electrical Trader’ in 1950 illustrates that the LV30 was marketed towards families on lower incomes, when first released it cost 39 guineas, tax paid. The LV30 was intended to receive London transmissions. Two months later an almost identical model (the BV30) was released for the Birmingham area.
